What does it mean to be present? How does one close the gap between the desired self and the actual self? In Six Easy Pieces, one woman navigates the space between perceiving and being, separation and connection. Propelled by text, movement, and video projection, she observes herself and others, all the while pushing and pulling at feeling present and actively part of the world around her. Six objects – Belts, Stairs, Mirrors, Hands, Eyes, and Bodies – serve as signposts throughout her journey, unveiling her struggle as a static subject of longing and driving her out from the landscape of the mind and into her body.
